I’m currently pivoting my career and academic focus into scientific research diving/nautical archaeology, and while I’m going back to school and starting over so as to become educated in these things, I want to get *into* it.
Like I want to immerse myself into it so fully that it becomes as much an obsession as an area of expertise. Introductory works to nautical history of all varieties in all periods would be appreciated, with (I suppose) some special interest in Bronze Age -> antiquity Mediterranean as well as the colonial era.
Books on the history, the science, the research/academics, as well as works of fiction and literature that are either informative or just capture that vibe (i.e. count of Monte Cristo as a random example) would also be much much appreciated.
