Yo! New to books and my parents kinda shelter me so I may consider buying some instead. I'm looking for something with some good length that'll keep me hooked, primarily about cryptids or eldritch horrors and things of that nature without being H.P. Lovecraft, I'm not sure if my parents like him.
I like the vibe of an old dingy dark academia feel or a film noir type feel, a mix of them if it makes sense. And preferably nothing super satanic, again, parents.
