i’ve been on a big nonfiction kick lately, specifically history/biographies, and since i was born in the early 2000s, my history education in school only went as far as MAYBE 1980. then i didn’t really become conscious of current events until around the 2010s, so i feel like there’s a big gap in my knowledge that i’d like to fill!! i’m open to books about anything from that period*, but i also have a list of some events/people that i’m already interested in and would love to learn more about:
-the challenger disaster
-chernobyl explosion
-the clinton/lewinsky scandal
-y2k panic
-hurricane katrina
-oj simpson trial
*my caveat here is that i am looking for books about specific people or events, not just a broad history of the period

The Burning Blue by Kevin Cook for the challenger disaster
I know it’s not in the time period you posted, but if you’re interested in the JFK assassination, Stephen King wrote 11/22/63 which blew my mind!! “On November 22nd, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas. President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back?”
