i haven’t read this book, but it showed up as a trending book on goodreads, and looking into it made me mad lol. it is about a ‘nonfiction’ book about how ai will gain superhuman intelligence, it will rise up and destroy humanity. this frustrates me because we already know exactly how ai will kill us: by using all of our drinking water and expediting the issue of global warming!!! has anyone read this and had similar thoughts? it just frustrates me to see people like this warning us about scary “what if” scenarios with ai, when the very real track we’re on right now is going to kill us anyway

Por qué no los dos?
You’re going to be very cross when you hear about Dr Strangelove.
the water usage of it is minimal compared to golf courses (2 trillion liters annually for gold, ~65 billion for AI)
If it helps convince more people that AI is terrible, it’s doing its job.
I don’t mind discourse about the negatives of current and future ai. I don’t think either detracts from the other. It’s all bad
