Specifically I’ve come to the end of the Joe Sandilands mysteries by Barbara Cleverly. I’ve read a TON of cozy historical mystery series on Kindle Unlimited and I don’t really want that super modern writing, kind of cozy setting.
Cleverly isn’t exactly literary fiction, but it’s a bit grittier and higher stakes than the Ginger Gold series, for example.
I also really like the Jane Wunderly series by Erica Neubauer.
I like how absolutely detailed she is about her settings, it’s not just a mystery with an exotic backdrop, the mystery is entwined with the setting.
Prefer Asian / South Asian / African setting.
