I am a bit hesitant with YA series – recently ive been enjoying the more grimdark, adult stories. I have also been trying to be expansive in the type of story I read and the authors but often sci-fi or fantasy is my go to. Will include my last 18 months of reading and the highlights.

    Books and series I like:

Green Bone saga – loved the characters, the setting and the constant scheming between factions.

Project Hail Mary – Cool story if not a little over hyped – preferred the movie

Red Rising Series – Loved the writing, the pace, Darrow (not so much Sevro), the scale of the story and the gripping plot.

Suneater series – Really enjoyed this, characters where not as strong as red rising but I did love the politics and again, the scale of the story. Was a little dissapointed with the ending.

Red City – Cool magic, liked the setting and plot but the one downside was the dialogue could be a bit unbelievable for school kids.

The poet empress – wonderful story and loved every thing about it.

The Paper Mengaerie – A short story but probably one of the most skillful and emotional stories ive ever read.

The expanse series was great, as well as the captives war.

The sword of Kaigen – Really liked the characters development in this.

Fang Si-Chi's First Love Paradise – Wanted to read outside my comfort with this one – was disturbing, tragic and uncomfortable but gripping also.

Yellowface – Loved the awful narrator – fun story.

Pachinko – Really enjoyed the ambition of the story and found the characters really engaging and symphatethic.

Like the first 3 mistborn books but disliked the ones after – not keen on starting stormlight.

The will of the many/strenght of the few was interesting – I do like a rags to riches

Poppy wars – Not my favourite but enjoyed it.

Never let me go – enjoyed it but not a fun read.

Wolrd War Z – One of my favourites

Silo – was good but ending was bad imo

Shogun – great story and a gripping plot

I have the first law series on my kindle will get to that at some points as well as Ken Liu's grace of kings series. I know Dungeon Crawler Carl get a lot of hype but not one I want to start at the moment

Be very grateful if I could get some more recommendations.
