When I say cosy, I mean easy to read if not actually delicious to read, nothing too mentally taxing for my brain as I recover from being sick while also stressing about work and life. Characters you easily care for and get invested in. Romance is fine once it's not the focus of the plot. Spice is also fine, I just tend not to read romance is all. Bonus points for nature or country contexts, but I'll take an rainy autumn or winter city vibe too. Historical fiction is fine, but I think preferably in the last maybe 50 years rather than 150.

Not quite the same vibes but I adored Enlightenment by Sarah Perry. Not a cosy read exactly but had some very cosy vibes in how she describes the Essex weather. Tom Lake by Ann Patchett was also good – I'm not really looking for that family vibe this time, but the writing and the context really drew me in and I learned all about cherry farming. They felt like real people.

Hopefully this is enough to convey the sense I'm going for. I've tried to give a good range of things to choose from for suggestions.

I'm having a pretty hard time at the moment with life in general and I just need to escape into something cosy to rest my brain.

    Thanks in advance.
