I read Lord of the Flies by William Golding years ago for a school project. Since then, I haven't been able to get the book out of my head; I've rarely been so absorbed by the world and the atmosphere. I already own both the regular edition and the graphic novel illustrated by Aimée de Jongh.
Do you have any recommendations for similar books? The format doesn't matter to me: it can be manga, comics, graphic novels, or novels—anything is fine.
I loved the oppressive atmosphere that spirals into chaos, the fact that even when everything seems to be going well, you can feel the trouble brewing.
Honestly, I enjoy all genres: fantasy, science fiction, psychological thrillers, crime novels,… ANYTHING suits me, I'm just desperate that I don't find some books with quite the same vibe.
