Anyone else have had their working memory destroyed by short form content? I read the Silmarillion at age 14 and now forget what happened two pages ago in any book I'm reading. Its terrifying and reminds me of the people in Fahrenheit 451. Its gotten so bad, that my latest trick to restore it is to do flow charts of events at the end of each chapter of a book I read.

I'm curious if anyone else is plagued by the same issue.

Same thing happened to me after getting addicted to Instagram stories few years back – my attention span became absolute garbage. Started keeping a small notebook next to me while reading and just jot down like one sentence about what happened in each chapter, nothing fancy. Takes maybe 30 seconds but helps so much with keeping track of everything

I am told you can improve memory by memorizing. Learn poems or the order of a deck if cards. It’s like a muscle, it needs exercise

    3. This is the fourth time you’ve posted this today. You’ve gotten very helpful answers, including from me, on the previous three.

You handed out awards and all
