Hello, my fave genre is romance, however I have a really hard time finding romance books that I can actually enjoy. I have tried reading books that have been recommended on TikTok like ACOTAR by Sarah J Maas or The Women by Kristin Hannah, but I genuinely cannot take the books seriously as characters aren’t really interesting and the romance feels superficial, not gonna lie I didn’t even finish them, my bad if I formed an opinion too fast. I don’t like it when a female leads personality starts of as a blank slate and their biggest flaw is being naive. I’ve read classics like Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights by the Brontë Sisters, and I do enjoy the books, but I really just want a simpler read that focuses on the romance, and is easier to follow and I don’t have analyze every aspect. I’ve read Gone with the Wind (and I understand it is a controversial book, and I do not agree with romanticizing the antebellum south). What I can say about it, is it’s such a well written book, with such interesting characters and character dynamics. It so easy to follow and understand while somehow continuously holding my interest throughout the whole book. However, I would say Gone with Wind, revolves around Scarlett and her life, rather than revolving around the Romance between Rhett and Scarlett. I just enjoyed how raw and human the characters and interactions were, the characters made decisions based on their personality rather than naivety, which made the story interesting. I really want to read books with diverse settings, could be in the US or could be in other parts of the world and I somehow, prefer the time set from the 60s and back. If anyone has any recs I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you! PLEASE GIVE ME A GOOD ROMANCE <333
