Ebooks can be practical but I do love paper books and the libraries brimming with them. Especially because it is everything but suprising that bastards like Amazon will pull something like this.

I hate Amazon as much as the next guy, but those things are like 100 dollars new… alternative e-readers don’t support 10 year old hardware either

Every kindle comes with an email address which can be used to send yourself books, you can find/change the email address for yours on the Amazon website.
If they’re cutting off access to download books from the kindle store, it sounds like you may still be able to find and email yourself copies.
Also, kobo e-readers are great.

Urgh, my ancient Kindle is my fav.
ETA: I looked and mine may not be affected, I think it’s 2014, but it works fine, there’s no need for me to change it.
