I am in a book slump, and I'm really struggling to get back into reading. i get about five pages into a book and start thinking about something else because it hasn't captured my interest.

I do love when some type of media sparks a curiosity about learning in an engaging way. for example, I love the play hamilton purely because it sparked a lot of research on my part to learn more about the characters and the history of the time.

I actually love a lot of sci fi books because it often pulls pieces of real science into it, and it makes me reearch and learn about those topics.

I enjoyed The Nightengale by Kristen Hannah because it gave me more opportunity to learn about the history of world war two on the side in a way that was relatable.

I'm not looking for a true biography or non fiction book…. more like a story that has pieces of reality in it, in a digestible way.

Super complicated, advanced reading books need not apply. looking for relatively easy reads of any fiction genre

I do also really enjoy dystopian novels in case you have any recommendations there.

bonus points if its an enjoyable audiobook too!

If you want something that’s easy to get into *but* makes you curious enough to go down research rabbit holes, try **An Absolutely Remarkable Thing** by **Hank Green**. It starts with this weird sci-fi mystery, all giant statues appearing overnight, but quickly pulls in real-world ideas about media, fame, internet culture, and even a bit of science. The chapters are short, the pacing is super quick, and it’s one of those books where you keep thinking, “wait, what’s actually going on here?” which makes it really hard to put down. It also tends to send people off googling theories and concepts as they read, which sounds exactly like your thing!

Black River Orchard, by Chuck Wendig (horror) is highly digestible, is an unexpected mini-education on apples and the history of apples in the US, and the audiobook version is fantastic!
