So I read a book called Tender is the Flesh. I had found this book so incredibly disturbing that I had to put it down several times while reading it. Im looking for books that are outright disturbing like that but not necessarily demonic.

Victorian Psycho
The Troop- Nick Cutter
*Child of God* by Cormac McCarthy or *Frisk* by Dennis Cooper. Two very different stories exploring different kinds of disturbed, violent people.
*Mysterious Skin*, by Scott Heim.

I haven‘t read Tender is the Flesh, but I found „Cat Person and Other Stories“ by Kristen Roupenian pretty disturbing. It’s a short story collection and not about cats at all 🥲 It needs SO MANY trigger warnings
A Little Life
Between two fires
I just read Fight Club, and it gets extra disturbing when you think about the number of people who think he’s some kind of role model.
Piercing by Ryu Murakami
Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez
Spectacular but disturbing as fuck.
“Five days at Memorial: life and death in a storm ravaged hospital” by Sheri Fink. I’ll never forget it.
Misery by Stephen King
Try: The Willows by Algernon Blackwood.
Also: Stephen King’s short story: 1408. And a bunch of books by King are weird and terrific.
Big Swiss by Beagin. Excellent!
Annihilation by Vandermeer .
I’ve heard Sky Daddy by Kate Folk is good and weird.
