I sometimes work 12 hour days at live events and then need to drive two hours to get home. Needless to say I’m tired and just want my brain to coast for a while. I’d like a recommendation for a fiction audiobook that has a propulsive, entertaining narrative that isn’t super depressing or too taxing to follow. However, I’d also like it to have enough literary substance that I feel like it’s a good use of time listening to it.
For reference, I’m a millennial and therefore I’ve been listening to Harry Potter on these long night drives. I’d rather not do that for the rest of time, so I’m looking for something else to take its place. Ideally, it would have a bit more substance than Harry Potter.
Any suggestions? Would something by Octavia Butler be a good pick?

I listened to Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer and really enjoyed it. It isn’t fiction, but an engaging narrative and interesting story.
Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for but when on roadtrips with my dad we used to listen to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Very funny and very entertaining if you’re into science fiction
