I am remember an example in a Dutch story but I forget which story it was and also who was the writer of that story.
That may be a writing as early as 1900 or before. Probably in modern writings that kind of perspective has been exchanged to a personal perspective from the respective character. “ am I right? well, time will tell. Now I go to sleep. Good night sweet diary “ or something similar.
