    Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some serious recommendations because I feel like I’m hitting a massive wall with my reading. I want to keep this hobby alive, but I’m struggling to find stuff that actually keeps me hooked.

    My "Burnout" Timeline:

    • 2018–2020: Started with Anime. Watched everything under the sun until I got burnt out.
    • 2020–2021: Switched to Manga/Manhwa/Manhua during lockdown. Read way too many and hit a wall by the end of '21.
    • 2022–Now: Deep-dived into Webnovels and Light Novels. I’ve read so many at this point that the burnout is back.

I really don't want to spend the rest of my life reading the same recycled "Chinese cultivation shit," but switching to Western novels has been a total hit-or-miss for me.

    The Hits:

    • Stormlight Archive Series (Loved the scale)
    • Red Rising Series (Obsessed with the pacing and the "dark" tone)

    The Misses:

    • Mistborn: Read Book 1, but the ending didn't make me want to pick up Book 2 (IYKYK).
    • Acts of Caine: Finished Book 1, but never felt the urge to continue the series.

My Top 10 Webnovels for context:

    1. ORV (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint)
    2. Mother of Learning
    3. LOTM (Lord of the Mysteries)
    4. Shadow Slave
    5. Reverend Insanity
    6. The Perfect Run
    7. A Regressor's Tale of Cultivation
    8. Kingdom's Bloodline
    9. TBATE (Up until the Ascender Grey arc)
    10. Sword God in a World of Magic

What I’m looking for: I’m a huge fan of Dark Progression Fantasy. I like smart MCs who actually struggle and earn their power (think LOTM or RI). I want to move toward Western books that have that same "just one more chapter" addictive quality but with better writing/depth.

If you’ve made the jump from Webnovels to Western books successfully, what actually kept you engaged? I need something that doesn't feel slow or "dry."

    Thanks in advance!
