I read more nonfiction than fiction because it's been so difficult finding adult fiction I like.
A few books I loved:
**Still Alice** by Lisa Genova
**Diary of a Void** by Emi Yogi
**Snow Flower and the Secret Fan** by Lisa See
**In This House of Brede** by Rumer Godden
A few I hated:
**Great Expectations** by Charles Dickens
**The Children Act** by Ian McEwan
**The Magicians** by Lev Grossman
**Jane Eyre** by Charlotte Bronte
A few other notes:
– I dislike any sexual content and even most references to it. I don't like romance, either.
– While a small amount of profanity isn't a deal-breaker, I prefer to avoid it and especially hate when it's constant.
– I tend to dislike historical fiction.
– I don't like books that are heavy-handed/preachy about politics, feminism, etc.
**Any recommendations to fit my very particular tastes?**

The Eyre Affair by Jasper fforde. It ties in beautifully with Jane Eyre. It’s a bit confusing to start with but it soon makes sense. Highly recommended.
