Modern Stories about the mundanity of life, but with a twist

I’m looking for modern books that kind of have to do with normal people dealing with everyday life, but with maybe a sinister or unexpected twist.

I want a book with similar vibes to “Gone Girl” or the recent A24 movie “The Drama”.

This might be an oddly specific request, but I’d be grateful for any help!
