I tend to lean into literary fiction, historical fiction, memoirs/biographies, thrillers, & books written from Asian authors. I’m open to any and all genres + would love to add more sci-fi, splatterpunk, fantasy, and/or romance.

Any suggestions are welcome, but no need to provide an overview/synopsis – all I need is a book title and genre, and maybe why you think I’d like it based on my fable account overview/recent read list below. 🙂

Recent Reads + Books I’ve Loved:

    • The Girl with Seven Names – Hyeonseo Lee

Since you liked Yangsze Choo and Axie Oh:

A Dream Wants Waking by Lydia Kwa – fantasy based on Chinese mythology of fox spirits.

Black Water Sister by Zen Cho – magical realism based on Chinese Malaysian folklore.

The Girl and the Ghost / Hamra and the Jungle of Memories – magical realism based on Malaysian folklore.

And the River Drags Her Down by Jiyun Yun – creepily gothic (but more sad than scary), based on Korean folklore.

Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen – a different take on mermaid stories, magical realism based on West African water spirit mythology and set during the slave trade era.
