I’d like to start off by saying that I loved this book. It did Danny’s story beautifully and I loved his development. The villains were so interesting and wicked (the baseball boys torture has forever scared me) and such an imposing threat. Then our protagonists just shot some em all the up! The story had some odd pacing at times, but overall it kept me well engaged. Am I glad I read it? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Is it a great book. Yes! Is it as good as the Shining… NO WAY! The Shining is a brilliant masterpiece in every way and Doctor sleep cannot come close. However, it’s still a good book. I’d give it 3.5 out of 5. (For reference, the Shining is a straight 5/5 in my book).
But here’s my question…
Should I watch the movie? Does the doctor sleep movie pull a Kubrick and throw the whole plot out the window? Or does it hold decently true to the events of the book? I don’t want to waste my time on a lack luster movie spin off so some insight would be much appreciated!

the movie’s a mixed bag, honestly. it does stick to the general vibe and plot but takes some creative liberties, so if you’re okay with that, it’s worth a watch. just keep your expectations in check compared to the book.
