I am so frustrated lately with the “enemies to lovers” I have read. I think I like the trope, but I’ve seen terrible examples of it so far.
I read Not Safe for Work by Nisha Tuli. The woman is just terribly rude to the man for NO reason. She’s horrible to him at every step and is constantly thinking/saying he hates her but that is never shown. She was very unlikable.
I’m tired of one or both characters persecuting themselves with no evidence and always being shocked when one acts like a normal decent human being or always saying “they’re a terrible person, but oh my gracious they’re hot”.
As for me, I don’t care about any details of the book like time period or genre, I’m just so desperate for a good enemies to lovers.
