Looking for a book I can read with my bf

Heyy, we both used to be bookworms as children/teens but haven‘t rlly touched a book in years. Now we both feel like picking up the hobby again but we are completely out of touch with the book world. Like we have no clue what books and authors are absolute must-reads.

We are looking for recommendations for a book that we can read together (one reads out loud). Ideally something that‘s a must-read/classic but isn‘t too hard in language and naturally very catching/addicting (since we both haven‘t read in years). English is also not my first language which is why we need a book with understandable language. We‘re open to all kinds of genres.
