    Heyy!

So I’ve only read fiction all my life and would love to try some non fiction out. Had it on my new yr resolutions last year to read at least 3 of those. But couldn’t really get into it.

I did start atomic habits cause of all the hype around it, but since I’m used to fiction so much, I couldn’t really push myself through.

I am having some free time in my hand, so want to read something. Also kind of in a reading slump over fictional books, can’t find anything to scratch my itch.

Please give me some options, that you enjoyed and will recommend.

    Thanks in advance! 🙂

    1. If you’re used to fiction, some more narrative non-fiction might be a good option. They aren’t usually self-help books, though. In Cold Blood might let you know if you like it, if you don’t mind true crime.

    2. Try Historical Fiction, true stories with recreated dialogues. A good example would be The Killer Angels by Jeff Shaara. It is about the battle of Gettysburg in the voices of all the major combatants, Grant, Lee, etc. It’s a great read, and you will learn so much. His son, Michael Shaara, continued this style with some great stories. Loved his WW2 trilogy, especially The Rising Tide, about the tank battles in North Africa in the voices of Rommel, Montgomery, and Eisenhower.

    3. Life is too short to waste on self help books. Can I suggest you choose topics you’re interested in? My favourite non-fiction book I read last year was The Knackered Mother’s Wine Guide. (The author is the knackered mother, the book isn’t aimed at mothers). I’ve always liked wine well enough but couldn’t have said what kind of wine I like and never felt confident enough to choose wine for the table in a restaurant.

My favourite non fiction books are always autobiographies.

What my bones know, CPTSD autobiography, it’s about the authors journey of looking at the causes in her life, but isn’t heavy. The author is also a journalist and references all the sources she discovers.
