Hi all, I’m officially starting my reading journey into the fantasy genre and I’m quite into setting challenges for my life to read certain books.
My query- I’m looking for help with listing the absolute must reads, whether it be a series or standalone. If you don’t mind I’d be into reading a variety of styles, old classic fantasy, high fantasy, more modern stuff (but I’m not looking for romantasy stuff that’s going around – I feel it’s its own category).
I’m aware of the most extremely mainstream stuff, I.e LOTR and The Hobbit will naturally be on the list, as well as Game of Thrones, and I’ve heard Brandon Sanderson should likely be there too (though I’m unfamiliar with which series of his to go on the list). Please otherwise treat me like I’m completely unaware of the genre, my knowledge I admit is limited with fantasy.
I’m currently reading The Name of the Wind (and don’t doubt it will never be a finished series but I’m having good time so that’s what matters.
TLDR – help me craft my top 100 must read fantasy books / series. Thanks!
