No romance please. (Established relationship is ok, as long as it's never a focus)
I'm fond of the Sherlock Holmes, and Eddie Flynn (Cavanagh) series.
With standalones, I liked "Drive your plow over the bones of the dead" (Tokarczuk), "Long Time Gone" (Donlea), "If something happens to me" (Finlay), "The God of the Woods"
I didn't like or care for "The Tainted Cup" (Bennett), "Murder at Spindle Manor" (Stang).
