Hey everyone, my younger brother is turning 16 and I want to get him a book as a gift. I’d like some recommendations. Here’s a quick description of him: he doesn’t really have a strong reading habit, but he’s very intelligent, interested in philosophy, and has progressive political views. His hobbies include collecting and playing Pokémon cards and playing online games (not sure which ones lol). He likes Brazilian music like Gabriel Pensador and Jorge Vercilo, as well as international rock like Iron Maiden and Megadeth. He’s a bit of a hopeless romantic and has some daddy issues lol.

I will always recommend the red rising saga to any teenage boy. Its one of my fav series ever. My brother is a bit younger than yours but is enjoying it so far!
It’s sci fi, set in the future, and is(initially) about rebelling against an oppressive societal structure. Very quickly it grows more nuanced and complex than that though. The thing I love most about it are the characters and the relationships between them. Its really fast paced and engaging as well, and not overly dark or sad.
I’d definitely go into it without any expectations beyond what its description says!
