I’m struggling to find a new book that makes me want to read rather than scroll 😐

The last book I was engulfed in a book was Barbara Kingsolver’s Demon Copperhead. I was a huge fan of hers for The Poisonwood Bible back when I was in high school – tried to read it again and couldn’t get back into it.

The last theme I had was LGBT stories (I’m a gay man):

I enjoyed Southermost by Silas House. Not as beautifully written as Kingsolver, but still a good read. Also read Brokeback Mountain – but that’s just a short story.

Before that was a theme of Christian books:

The Shack by WM Paul Young was a good read.

I tried to get into some nonfiction recently ā€œNo Bad Partsā€ and ā€œBad Bloodā€, but couldn’t stay engaged – same with gay romance ā€œThe Boyfriend Subscriptionā€.

I’m a sucker for young adult books and devoured all the new Hunger Games prequels.

Recommendations are appreciated. I’m a Libby user, so happy to put holds in and read as they come in.

      In Memoriam by Alice Winn

It’s not YA, but it’s about boarding school boys in England who fight in WWI. There’s a very touching gay love story that runs throughout.
