looking for a book to get me out of this reading slump. ideally something fast paced, plot more than character driven, and makes you want to not pull away.
for context i usually read 20th century classics (catcher in the rye and giovanni’s room are some of the faves) and i find a good memoir usually does the job (lou sullivan’s youngman, eve babitz, anything by patti smith). generally speaking i love very evocative and well written prose.
but also getting a little bored and want to switch things up a little. don’t mind getting recs for these genres but want to branch out a little more.
not many books tend to glue me to the page, but here are some of the few that have:
the secret history – donna tart
the f*ggots and their friends – larry clark
cats cradle – vonnegut
heart of a dog – bulkagov
the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
harry potter lol
hard rain falling – don carpenter.
quite the mix haha but yeah looking forward to the recs!
