I’m recent into this genre. I don’t do well with scary things, but after watching Haunting of Hill House, that changed.

We Used to Live Here- Marcus Kliewer
I loved the mystery of not seeing what this thing was. I enjoyed the open ended ending. Very descriptive. Felt like I could see everything like I was there.
Haunting of Hill House
My favorite thing was the deep, family relationships. I enjoyed the layers and how each struggle related to the “mystery” that was happening. I loved all of the metaphors and how it’s not really about this haunting. This is really the type I am looking for.
God of the Woods- Liz Moore
The mystery was almost a side plot. Reading all of the different perspectives and wondering how and why you are getting this information. I also enjoyed the slightly open end. Strong character work too.
