I am just finishing Low Life by Lucy Santé and also recently read Writing Chicago: Modernism, Ethnography and the Novel. I'm looking for similar books about those cities or about cities in general, especially their historical evolution or times of turmoil. I can handle something more popular or more highbrow, but hopefully not dull. Not opposed to other cities like Paris, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Naples, etc.
