Looking for deeply written mystery/history books.
I enjoy Mick Herron, Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, John Le Carre, Joseph Finder, John Dunning, Jo Nesbo, Robert Tannenbaum and especially Alan Furst.
I haven't enjoyed much in this genre by women authors beyond Janet Evanovich, who is on the light side for me, and Tana French so would be happy to balance out my list.
I don't like formulaic macho thrillers characterized by authors like James Patterson or Lee Child or Daniel Silva
I read quickly and a good deal so I am looking for prolific authors with a good deal of published work.
