Hi! I’m looking for book recommendations and I’m having a hard time finding something that actually fits what I want.
I’m NOT looking for super spicy/romantasy books where the romance is the whole plot. I don’t mind romance at all, but I want it to feel natural and not like the main focus or “brain rot” vibes.
What I really want is something immersive, where I can feel like I’m inside another world or atmosphere—kind of like how Harry Potter or even Wings by Aprilynne Pike felt when I was younger. That sense of discovery, a hidden world, or just a strong environment I can get lost in.
It doesn’t have to be fantasy—it can be contemporary, dark academia, psychological, etc.—as long as it’s:
immersive and atmospheric
emotionally engaging
not overly focused on spice
ideally has strong character development
bonus if it’s a series, but not required
I also like darker or slightly unsettling vibes, but not something super dense or impossible to get into.
