I just finished Part One so please no spoilers beyond that point. I'm reading it for a class and one thing we've discussed is how sympathetic each character seems. Something that's throwing me off is it seems I'm the only one who finds Alix sympathetic? Someone even said they "appreciate [my] ability to sympathize with Alix". I found both her and Emira to be very sympathetic but everyone else seems to see her as a villain character. She does have a performative aspect to her character but I don't think she's entirely fake or ill-intentioned. I listened to the first part on audio because my book hadn't come in yet so maybe that's part of it? What do you guys think, am I crazy??? And just to clarify I'm a woc myself so the racial aspects aren't impacting my reading.
