I made a post a year or two ago asking for really smart and easy to read novels, nothing that takes itself so seriously, and got the best suggestions (and read them all!!). I offered How to Kill a Mole as an example of what I was looking for and was suggested What You’re Looking for is in the Library, the Housekeeper and the Professor, the Traveling Cat Chronicles, and a few others. I didn’t know how much I needed Japanese literature in my life. They were all so perfect I knew I needed to come back for more suggestions. I just finished I Make Envy on Your Disco, which was a gorgeous and funny and heartfelt snapshot of a week spent in Berlin.
I don’t need conventional love stories or adventures — these titles were about love and adventure, but were simple in their undertaking and let the human connection and experience shine. What else is out there that I need to know about???
