I would like nonfiction books explaining the anthropological, sociological (and perhaps biological) reasons why people were and still are resistant to socially progressive movements in general.

What forces make up the human behavior & psyche that motivates them to see desperately want to maintain the status quo?

Specifically with regards to feminism, LGBT rights, civil rights movement, etc.

Basically a sort of historical, political, anthropological, sociological, and of course, all non-fiction books.

I'm really interested in the psychology of the racist, homophobic, or misogynistic people at the time. What systems cause those mindsets in the first place and how do those systems work?

If you know any books that can answer questions like these, alongside the genres & themes I mentioned, I'd really appreciate it!
