I'm trying to build a reading habit, but I’ve struggled to stay consistent till now.
I’ve started a few books before (like Rich Dad Poor Dad), and I do find them interesting, but I usually lose momentum after a few pages or days. I think I tend to start strong and then get distracted or bored if it doesn’t keep me hooked.
A bit about me:
I spend a lot of time on my phone, so my attention span is not great.
I prefer things that are engaging from early stage rather than slow build-ups
I enjoy strong characters, interesting ideas, and also some emotional impact too
I like both entertainment and meaningful content, as long as it doesn’t feel dry
For reference, I enjoy anime like Demon Slayer, Naruto, Death Note, and I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. So basically I like a mix of action, character growth, and emotional impact.
I also want to get into reading to improve my vocabulary, pronunciation, and overall speaking skills.
What I’m looking for:
– beginner-friendly
– not too long or heavy
– engaging from the start
– something that actually keeps me coming back
What I want to avoid:
– very slow or boring starts
– overly complex language
– books that take a lot of time to “get good”
If you were someone who struggled with reading but eventually got into it, what book helped you break that barrier?
