I'm not really sure what im looking for right now. I was super into folk horror, and bought all of these books, but we just got some really bad news relating to my fiance's mom, and I'm struggling to find something to read.
I love fantasy, but I think I need something on the easier side? Maybe something lighter? I don't have it in me right now to be bogged down by too much world-building information, and I'm not really feeling horror, so while I want something lighter, im still looking for something interesting.
Some reading history:
I got really into Greek retellings, so song of Achilles, the Ithacaโ series, clytemnestra, and the wolf den (not a retelling, but ancient Rome, so it made sense to put that here.
Then I went to folk horror, so I was reading things like slewfoot, lost gods, juniper and thorn, what moves the dead.
I've read Tusk Love, some of the other Critical Roll inspired books, bone shard daughter. I've read Alice isnt dead.
I did not like legends and lattes ๐ ๐
Im not sure where to go from here. Just looking for a book with some good writing, something that is easier to read, interesting, and lighter, I guess!
When I say lighter, what I mean is more, like, not bogged down by a ton of worldbuilding, decently paced, not 5,000 pages, rather than the actual topics being light, if that makes sense?
