I'm looking for a book where the narrator is a sex worker doing crazy hours desperate to save money and/or who is in the industry but doesn't want to be/is ashamed of having ended up there.
I'm not looking for anything that's titillating or pulp fiction, I want something ideally well-written that's a bit darker and goes into the psychological side of the thoughts/feelings/impacts of and on the narrator.
Does anybody have a recommendation along those lines?
