Looking for a fantasy book for a class of 6 to 10 year old english learners.

I work at a full immersion kindergarten that’s starting a new project, like a storytime. The plan is for the teacher to read a book for the kids that stay around until their parents come pick them up! We want to make it a fun storytelling activity and so we want:

1) books that aren’t too dark

2) chapters that aren’t too long

3) Ideally fantasy-themed, but could be convinced otherwise

So far, we have picked out things like Chronicles of Narnia and Percy Jackson. We want to avoid Harry Potter.

I’d love some recommendations!
