Hello all. My story is similar to others on this sub: I've neglected my reading, forcing myself to read books that are "important" burned me out. But I need more lit in my life. I just finished Spaceman of Bohemia by Jaroslav Kalfař and was entranced by it. I'm looking for similar vibes: wit or humor, good concept, strong characters. I have a preference for sci-fi but am by no means locked to the genre.
When I was younger, I was very much into Vonnegut and Douglas Adams. I'm kind of an old man and unfamiliar with a lot of the lit landscape of the 21st century. Upon recommendation, I tried The Crying of Lot-49 next but did not stick with it. I can recognize the artistry of the prose, but I found the narrative difficult to follow as a result.
So now I turn to you, book nerds of the internet. Point me in a direction, please. Cheers!
