I have been deeply moved to tears by the book, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
The emotional journey of the characters and the themes of redemption and forgiveness touched my heart in a profound way.
The raw and powerful storytelling in The Kite Runner evoked strong emotions, making it one of those rare books that had me wiping away tears as I read.
Have you had a similar experience with a book? Thanks

Khaled Hosseini did an AMA here [you might want to take a look](http://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/1snjj3/this_is_khaled_hosseini_author_of_the_kite_runner/) 🙂 [Here’s a link to all of our upcoming AMAs](http://www.reddit.com/r/books/wiki/amafullschedule)

Yes, a few times.
First by the ending of Where the Red Fern Grows.
Later by Watership Down, Lions of Al Rassan, When Breath Becomes Air, All Quiet on the Western Front.
Not every great book moves me to tears, but if an author can do that, it shows that they have some skill at their craft.
Not since I was a teenager. I use to have such strong physical reactions to books, from panic attacks over intense scenes to balling my eyes out over sad ones. I’m not really sure when exactly that stopped. I definitely still feel emotionally impacted by certain books, sometimes I even feel like I *want* to cry, but for whatever reason I just don’t.
Many times as a kid (a *lot* of books about animals have sad endings) but not too many times as an adult.
The last time I cried while reading a book was about 2 years ago when I was reading *Everything Sad Is Untrue* by Daniel Nayeri. It’s an extraordinary book, I highly recommend it!
Yes, regularly.
Most recently with At Night All Blood Is Black by David Diop. Absolutely heartbreaking. I was bawling my eyes out.
Rarely, but sometimes books just reach you at the right time in your life.
There were some emotions reading “monsieur ibrahim and the flowers of the koran” and “Flowers For Algernon”
Yes, most recently, and very unexpectedly, reading War and Peace.
At one point it suddenly seemed like Tolstoy was writing about a catharsis I was personally experiencing, and it felt so real and human. He was a true master of his art.
The last book that did this for me was A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. Read it for the first time in grade 10 and bawled like a baby.
Yeah I have, but I will cry quite quickly about media in general. Usually I‘ll be able to re-read a scene and not cry, but there are a handful of examples that *reliably will make me cry every time*. They are the ending of *The Traitor Baru Cormorant* (Bonus, I’ll also cry my eyes out to a scene in *Tyrant,* too) and the ending of the manga *Madoka Magica*. Well, apparently I like to cry about tragic lesbians.
I read Captain Corelli’s mandolin in 1997. I finished the last 150 pages or so in one sitting, I admit I’d smoked a couple of joints with a friend beforehand and I was a bit stoned.
Reader, I wept like a newborn baby.
Almost shed a tears with Never let me go by Ishiguro. The last page.
Choked up a bit reading Richard Osman’s latest.
The ending of There There by Tommy Orange had me sobbing.
‘Little Women’ got me.
Two have made me cry. The Book Thief, and The Road. In the last few pages of The Road I kept having to take breaks because I couldn’t see through my tears.
Man ALL THE TIME lol. Not just for sad or profound stuff – big satisfying reveals cause so much emotion that they come out of my eyes as tears. If anyone has read *The Gone Away World*, every time I reread it, I weep at the line >!”My name is Ime Thermite, and we are the School of the Voiceless Dragon”!<
When I read I Know This Much is True. Stayed up all night finishing it.
I cry over a lot of books lol
