Hey everyone,
I’m pretty new to reading books for fun. Most of what I’ve read so far was just stuff I had to read for school, but recently I got into manga and found it really entertaining. Now I want to try getting into regular books too, but I’m not sure where to start.
I think I’d enjoy something set in a fantasy world, especially if it has magic, alchemy, crafting, worldbuilding, or a story about building a new city, country, kingdom, or society from the ground up. I like the idea of characters slowly creating something from nothing, improving it over time, and exploring the world around them.
I’d also really like a good side cast. I enjoy stories where the main character has companions, friends, rivals, or allies who actually matter and aren’t just there in the background.
I’m also open to a bit of BL/romance, but I’d prefer it as part of the story rather than the entire focus.
I’m not really interested in biographies, documentaries, realistic history, non-fiction, heavy politics, or sci-fi/space opera stuff like Star Wars. I’m mostly looking for something entertaining, fantasy-based, and not too hard to get into as someone who hasn’t read many books outside of school.
Do you have any recommendations for someone new to reading for fun?
