One of the wraiths approached Alexio, speaking in a dire, urgent tone:
"You are alive… You possess a near-complete consciousness, and I need just a fragment of it to enter the city. Please, give me a portion of your consciousness before the others notice. It won't harm you, but it will be my salvation."
Alexio took a step back, his hand instinctively gripping the hilt of his sword as he stared into the surrounding mist.
"But what is this 'Consciousness' you all speak of? I don’t understand a word you’re saying."
The wraith replied, its eyes flickering with a faint, dying glow:
"With your consciousness, you can perceive the truth amidst this fog. Without it, we are nothing but fading memories. Agree, and I shall guide you on your path. Or stay here, until this place consumes you and you become transparent like us—haunting the city forever as a shadow without a memory."
