Hiii!! I’m a 23F and I’ve loved reading all of my life. Growing up, I loved fantasy (and anything fictional really) and then transitioning into my adult life, I really fell in love with dark, emotional, and/or morbid romance novels. After some time though, I felt like I’d read all of the (dark) romance novels that had actual substance to them and I honestly just got kind of bored of the genre. So the next time I went to the bookstore, I grabbed a random book from the psychological thriller section (The Teacher by Frieda Mcfadden) and I absolutely loved it. I binged a lot of her books, and liked most of them, but couldn’t deny that it felt like I was liking them less and less the more of them I read.

Now, I feel like I’m at some sort of standstill. I’ve tried to start a few books over the last few months and I can’t seem to get attached to any of them, despite how much I yearn to be addicted to a story again. I partially blame the fact that I’m writing my own novel currently. But I know even if I wasn’t, I’d still be in the same reading rut.

In conclusion, I would really love some book/author recommendations. I’d be open to any genre of fiction, but I’d prefer a story/series with hints of darkness and/or swirls of romance within it. I also usually only read first person, BUT if you know of a really really good book that meets my ‘criteria’ that’s in third person, please mention it.

I need a story that’s going to rip my heart out, change my brain chemistry, get me hot and bothered, terrify me, make me sit and think for awhile, or all of the above at the same time.

Thank you for any recommendations!! (please leave small blurbs of your recs) \^\_\^
