I read Piranesi last year and still think about the empty halls, the statues, the light coming through high windows. Not a horror book. Not sad either. Just that feeling of being in a large quiet space that used to hold people but now just holds dust and echoes. A museum after hours. A library that hasnt been touched in decades. A train station with no trains.
Does anyone know another novel where the setting is vast and empty and beautiful and the main character is just moving through it alone?
