Hi all,
I would like to be recommended books similar to the movie Howl's Moving Castle in terms of magic/sorcerer setting and whimsical elements that are more akin to urban fantasy (Harry Potter) than high fantasy (Lord of The Ring). Preferably female protagonist or even ensemble main characters. I particularly like stories that focus more on characters, even though a good plot is also important.
Additionally, the book can be of different genres like thrillers, drama, romance, etc. And I don't mind reading heavy topics either. Like in Howl's Moving Castle, the main themes include self-worth, humanity, and an anti-war message, despite being a love story. Bonus if the characters are likable and not teenagers.
I already read the first Harry Potter book a long time ago, and I don't want to read it now as I don't want to support JKR, so that's checked off the list. And my English is not very good so forgive me if I make any mistake.
