The "this wasn't a real book, it was only a dream" is a recurring theme in my life and until technology exists that allows me to pull the books out of my dreams, I must turn to reddit and ask if you have any suggestions!
My dream was a typical LOTR-style fantasy journey to save the world. Two of the companions fall in love, a 100-year old dwarf/hobbit type man who is young for his race, and an older, jaded human-esque soldier man. It was a mixture of them traveling to save the world and also the two of them realizing their love and overcoming trials with it (at one point, the human soldier forgets everything and the dwarf/hobbit takes it on himself to finish the quest to hopefully restore the soldier's memories).
I don't think there will be anything exactly like this, but are there queer fantasy stories about two men saving the world? Maybe across different fantasy races?
