I have a friend who wants to be a reader, but can’t seem to actually make it through a whole book. She’s tried some fiction (Project Hail Mary, Where the Crawdads Sing), and non-fiction (Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, another book about math and genetics)- and it’s not that she dislikes the books, she just gets about halfway and stops. She blames it on “not scheduling her time well” but I think she just hasn’t found something that draws her in well enough yet.

She was raised in a family where reading was not ever a focus as a kid. The books she can remember loving were “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” and “True Story: ——“ (books about the Titanic and other real life events). The only other books she can remember getting close to finishing as a a teen/adult are ones where she watched the movie first or ones required for school (but still never fully finished anything she can remember)

Shes 22F- I don’t think any genres are specifically off limits. Help! Thanks!
