I was doing some writing research and I want to write more diverse, interesting characters. I was thinking of adding a Romani or maybe a russian character, i wanna add people of unique or interesting backgrounds but I want to do them right and so i was wondering if any of you could suggest a book that writes characters well but also writes poc and unique characters with interesting or diverse backgrounds as something to help me better understand how it should be written. Also, if you can't help with that, just suggest me books that are great for writers. I'm doing tons of research and taking courses for it before tackling my first novel. I know i'm only getting reddit's opinions, I'm aware there is more people out there and such. Yet, any kind of information can be helpful. Thanks so much!! I really appreciate it.
I don't know anything about the cultures I mentioned, So please give me as much information as you can. I want to avoid writing anything insensitive or rude about those cultures in my novel. i want it to be as accurate but also to have diverse characters because they aren't truly represented or picked as much in media I've found.
