I chose the Children/YA flair but I’m open to other suggestions too! I am working on a research paper centering on coming of age stories by female authors, about female characters. I’m leaning into the books that are old but often considered must-reads for bookworm girls. Little Women, Anne of Green Gables etc. The characters often share characteristics with the author, or represent the ways that the author wished she could have lived life. I don’t want to over saturate with the usual suspects, so I’m looking for a book or two that aren’t as frequently recommended. Around 1850-1920 time period, perhaps?
